Madison Square Garden, colloquially known as the Garden or by its initials MSG, is a multi-purpose indoor arena in New York City. It is located in Midtown Manhattan between Seventh and Eighth avenues from 31st to 33rd streets above Pennsylvania Station. It is the fourth venue to bear the name "Madison Square Garden"; the first two, opened in 1879 and 1890, were located on Madison Square, on East 26th Street and Madison Avenue, with the third Madison Square Garden (1925) farther uptown at Eighth Avenue and 50th Street.

The current incarnation (the fourth MSG, opened 1968) has hosted more landmark sporting and entertainment events than arguably any building in history — from Ali–Frazier 'Fight of the Century' to Willis Reed's Game 7 entrance, from the Rangers' 1994 Stanley Cup to countless farewell concerts.

Injured Knicks captain Willis Reed limped onto the court for Game 7 of the 1970 NBA Finals, hit the first two shots of the game, and inspired the crowd and his team to a championship over the Lakers. Still cited as the most electric moment in Garden history.
