Patrick Division rivals since 1980s; 1984 first Caps playoff win ended Broad Street Bullies era

From Wikipedia

The Capitals–Flyers rivalry is a National Hockey League (NHL) rivalry between the Washington Capitals and Philadelphia Flyers. Both teams compete in the Eastern Conference's Metropolitan Division. The two teams have been rivals since the Capitals' inception in the 1974–75 season, but became most intense in the 1980s when the Capitals joined the Patrick Division. After years of quiet matchups throughout 1990s and early 2000s, the rivalry was renewed in mid-2000s and continued to grow until 2020s with both teams being equally competitive resulting in two playoff series in 2008 and 2016.
