Blackhawks at United Center
The Chicago Blackhawks' national anthem tradition — 20,000 fans cheering and clapping over Jim Cornelison's booming rendition of 'The Star-Spangled Banner' — is arguably the greatest pregame ritual in American sports. Even in down years, the anthem alone is worth the trip to the Madhouse on Madison.
The first notes of the anthem hitting and the entire United Center erupting into a sustained wall of cheers and clapping that doesn't stop until the final note.
United Center is an indoor arena on the Near West Side of Chicago, Illinois. It is home to the Chicago Bulls of the National Basketball Association (NBA) and the Chicago Blackhawks of the National Hockey League (NHL). It is named for its corporate sponsor United Airlines. With a seating capacity of up to 23,500, the United Center is the largest arena by capacity in the NBA, and second largest arena by capacity in the NHL after the Bell Centre.

Plan Your Trip
O'Hare (ORD) or Midway (MDW). United Center is west of downtown — rideshare is easiest; the Blue Line + a bus is cheaper. Stay in the Loop or West Loop. Arrive 15 minutes before puck drop to be in your seat for the anthem; that is the non-negotiable moment.
